How to Register To Vote In Maryland State
As a resident of Maryland state, you can register to vote for the 60th US presidential election (to be held on Nov 5th, 2024) using the following steps:

Confirm Your Voter Eligibility
To register you must meet the following criteria:
- be a US Citizen (including those born in Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands)
- be a Maryland resident
- be at least 16 years old* (You may register to vote if you are at least 16 years old but cannot vote unless you will be at least 18 years old by the next general election.)
- not be under guardianship for mental disability or if you are, you have not been found by a court to be unable to communicate a desire to vote
- not have been convicted of buying or selling votes
- not have been convicted of a felony, or if you have, you have completed serving a court ordered sentence of imprisonment.
Online Registration
To register online you need:
- A Maryland driver's license or MVA-issued ID card.
- The date Maryland driver's license or MVA ID card was issued.
- Social Security Number (SSN).
- A valid email address.
Navigate to Maryland's online voter registration and complete the form before the Online Registration Deadline: October 15th, 2024
Mail-in Registration
- Download the Federal Voter Registration Form
- Print out the form (pages 4 and 5) and fill it out using our helpful tips below.
- Fill out the form with your personal information.
- #6 ID Number. If you do not have a current, valid Maryland driver's license or MVA ID card, you must enter the last 4 digits of your social security number. The statutory authority allowing ofcials to request the last 4 digits of your social security number is Election Law Article, § 3-202. The number will only be used for registration and other administrative purposes. It will be kept confidential.
- #7 Choice of Party. You must register with a party if you want to take part in that party's primary election.
- #8 Race or Ethnic Group. Leave Blank.
- #9 Signature Sign and date the application to attest the data you entered is true and that you meet eligibility requirements.
- Mail the completed form to the following address. The completed form must be postmarked by October 15th, 2024.
