How to Register To Vote In Maryland State

As a resident of Maryland state, you can register to vote for the 60th US presidential election (to be held on Nov 5th, 2024) using the following steps:

Confirm Your Voter Eligibility

To register you must meet the following criteria:
  • be a US Citizen (including those born in Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands)
  • be a Maryland resident
  • be at least 16 years old* (You may register to vote if you are at least 16 years old but cannot vote unless you will be at least 18 years old by the next general election.)
  • not be under guardianship for mental disability or if you are, you have not been found by a court to be unable to communicate a desire to vote
  • not have been convicted of buying or selling votes
  • not have been convicted of a felony, or if you have, you have completed serving a court ordered sentence of imprisonment.

Online Registration

To register online you need:
  • A Maryland driver's license or MVA-issued ID card.
  • The date Maryland driver's license or MVA ID card was issued.
  • Social Security Number (SSN).
  • A valid email address.
Navigate to Maryland's online voter registration and complete the form before the Online Registration Deadline: October 15th, 2024

Mail-in Registration

  1. Download the Federal Voter Registration Form
  2. Print out the form (pages 4 and 5) and fill it out using our helpful tips below.
    • Fill out the form with your personal information.
    • #6 ID Number. If you do not have a current, valid Maryland driver's license or MVA ID card, you must enter the last 4 digits of your social security number. The statutory authority allowing ofcials to request the last 4 digits of your social security number is Election Law Article, § 3-202. The number will only be used for registration and other administrative purposes. It will be kept confidential.
    • #7 Choice of Party. You must register with a party if you want to take part in that party's primary election.
    • #8 Race or Ethnic Group. Leave Blank.
    • #9 Signature Sign and date the application to attest the data you entered is true and that you meet eligibility requirements.
  3. Mail the completed form to the following address. The completed form must be postmarked by October 15th, 2024.
