How to Register To Vote In North Dakota State

Voter registration is not required in North Dakota.

Confirm Your Voter Eligibility

To vote you must meet the following criteria:
  • be a US Citizen (including those born in Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands)
  • be a resident of North Dakota for at least 30 days immediately before the Election in which you intend to vote
  • not be a felon. You lose the right to vote while incarcerated if you are convicted of a felony. If you are on parole, probation, or have fully completed your sentence, you may cast a ballot.
  • Have a valid form of identification on you when you go out to vote:
    1. North Dakota Driver's License
    2. North Dakota Non-Driver's License
    3. Tribal ID or Tribal Letter
    4. Long-Term Care Certificate
